How to Use Your Wax Burner Safely
At Lux & Lustre, your safety is our priority. Please read these guidelines carefully before using your wax burner and melts.
Getting Started
- Always place your wax burner on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from the edge of tables or shelves.
- Keep your wax burner away from flammable materials such as curtains, paper, and soft furnishings.
- Never leave a lit wax burner unattended.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets at all times.
Using a Tea Light Wax Burner
- Use only unscented tea light candles in your burner — scented tea lights can interfere with your wax melt fragrance.
- Only use tea lights that fit securely in the burner dish.
- Do not overfill the dish with wax melts — one or two pieces is usually sufficient.
- Never add water to the dish.
- Allow the tea light to burn out naturally or extinguish carefully using a snuffer.
Using an Electric Wax Burner
- Plug directly into a wall socket — do not use with an extension lead where possible.
- Do not leave plugged in overnight or when leaving the house.
- Allow the burner to cool completely before handling or changing wax.
Changing Your Wax Melt
- Allow the wax to cool and solidify before removing it from the dish.
- To remove, gently press the side of the wax disc — it should pop out cleanly.
- Alternatively, briefly warm the burner for 1–2 minutes to loosen the wax, then wipe clean with a cotton pad.
- Never pour liquid wax down the sink.
General Safety Tips
- Do not burn wax melts for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Ensure the room is well ventilated.
- If you experience any irritation from a fragrance, discontinue use immediately.
- Store unused wax melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
